From one supplier bill to a batch of twelve

This page shows how the skill reads supplier bills and checks them against your books, one level at a time. It starts with one bill and its fields. It ends with a batch of 12 documents and the bills that the skill holds from payment. The page quotes every rule from the skill and works every number in front of you.

The rules are the skill's ownThe page quotes each rule word for word, with the file and section it comes from.
Outside sources back the factsThey are an IRS page, a GAO report, an FBI notice, an HMRC guide, an EU decision and an OpenStax textbook. Each one has a number and a link.
The page shows the mathOpen "Check it yourself" on any level. Follow every line on a calculator.
Your numbers, your checkAt the end, enter one bill of your own. The page checks the figures and gives the status that the skill's table gives.

How it thinks

Ten rules the whole skill runs on

Every level below applies one or more of these rules. The examples use one made-up company, Northbrook Trading. It works in US dollars and keeps its books in QuickBooks, connected through MosoFin. The run is on Monday 12 October 2026. The owner gives the skill two PDFs, bills_a.pdf and bills_b.pdf.

Learning path

Six levels, from simple to complex

Check it yourself

Put in one bill of your own

Enter up to 10 lines from one bill, or load an example. Part 1 runs the cross-check from Step 3 and Step 4 of references/method.md. Part 2 applies the status table from Step 6. The page sends nothing anywhere.

Part 1: Check one invoice

LineQuantityUnit pricePrinted amountQuantity × price
The totals as printed
How the bill shows tax

If the prices exclude tax, the page adds Subtotal + Tax + Shipping − Discount. If the prices include tax, the lines add to the total, so the page adds the lines + Shipping − Discount. It then shows Subtotal = Total − Tax. The page never calculates tax from a rate.

Part 2: Status

Tick each finding from the checks against your books. The first three findings give Stop. Any other finding gives Review. No finding gives Clean.

The confidence is a separate grade. This page shows Medium when a line or the total does not add up, and High when everything adds up. That is the example's reading. The skill's status table has no row for a failed cross-check, so the page does not change the status for it. The Harbor preset gives a subtotal of 1,814.00, a total of 1,988.66, a difference of 0.00 and Review. The Metro Shred preset gives 129.90 against 139.90, a difference of 10.00, and Clean with Medium confidence.

Using it

What it asks, needs and gives back

Asks firstUse MosoFin for this run, or upload the data yourself? Which bills: PDF, PNG, JPG or a scan of many pages? Which company receives the bills, and in a group, which company does each bill belong to? Which output: xlsx, CSV or JSON? Is any document in the batch not a bill?
NeedsYou always give it the bills. On the MosoFin path, it reads the supplier list, the bills and the payments in your books. On the upload path, give it each supplier's bills, open and paid, and the payments. Without that history, the duplicate and already-paid checks cannot run.
Gives backThe skill gives back six sheets: Invoices, Line Items, Tax Detail, Source Reference, Validation Results and Coverage. It can give JSON in place of the sheets. It asks before it makes an Excel file.
NeverThe skill never posts a bill, pays a bill or changes your books. It never guesses a field. It never reads the bank details of a supplier, so it reports that check as NOT RUN.
Sources

Where every fact on this page comes from

The rules are the skill's own. The facts below come from six outside sources. They are an IRS page, a GAO report, an FBI notice, an HMRC guide, an EU decision and an OpenStax textbook. MosoFin checked each one on 28 October 2026 from search results and did not open the pages. Follow the link for today's wording.

Not backed by an outside authority. The Clean, Review and Stop statuses, the confidence levels, the six sheets, the file name and the batch of 12 documents are the skill's own. MosoFin made up Northbrook Trading, its suppliers and every figure in the examples. The page marks them where they appear.
